Following my First Prize win in the 2016 Behind the Lens photography competition, I was interviewed by The Beast magazine. The feature explored my photography journey, the inspiration behind Solitude, and the experience of winning my first photography competition.

I spoke about how I respond to what I see and feel when I am photographing, and how a photograph can emerge from a particular atmosphere or moment. Solitude was taken one summer afternoon in Karlsborg, Sweden. The surroundings were exceptionally quiet and peaceful, and as I walked among the trees, they seemed almost like giant angels standing around me. That feeling stayed with me and became the inspiration for the photograph.

Winning Behind the Lens was an important moment in my photographic journey, and being interviewed by The Beast gave me an opportunity to reflect on the way I photograph and the ideas behind my work.
